Female poker players: This is a man’s, man’s world.

July 12, 2010

I have personally never really experienced chauvinism myself while playing poker at a Casino and I can proudly say me and my girlfriends are frequent patrons of land based Casinos in my hometown, online casinos at which we’ve already played for years and every now and then we also fly/drive to Las Vegas as well.

Never have I been harassed or make fun of by a male or female fellow player at a Casino poker table.

However, from what I hear regarding the World Series of Poker $1,000 buy-in Ladies No-Limit Hold ’em Championship that’s held every year at the Rio, there were many incidents in which men were allowed to play in this women-only tournament and they seem to have taken advantage of the situation by harassing the female players and trying to put them down with macho jokes and other nasty antics you wouldn’t expect from people playing at this level like the player who put a tampon atop his cards at the table or the guy who dressed in drag, full makeup and wig included.

I’m sorry to hear that the Casino authorities are doing nothing to stop this from happening. I blame them for not taking care of their female customer better. Seeing how the situation was unfolding they should’ve put a stop to it. I also think female poker players shouldn’t take it personally: these are men with a complex of inferiority, threatened by the mastery and skills of a group of women who can play the most classic casino game in the same fashion as they do in tournaments like the High Heels Poker Tour or the Ladies International Poker Series.

Also, I know for a fact not all men are like that, and it was nothing against those players in particular. The guys who did that are just dealing with their own ignorance so when you look at the big picture you can see it is them who have bigger personality problems to deal with.

Like Jay-Z says “You gotta get, that, dirt off your shoulder ” LOL

AND last but not least… TODAY is my birthday!!!! WOOHOOOOOO!!! I’m turning the young and angelical age of 27 years old (LOL) and I still don’t have plans – I don’t know what I’m going to do yet but I definitely must celebrate it. I have to say I’m thankful to my mom and dad for always being there for me… to my brother for singing Happy B-day to me on the phone this morning (he actually woke me up!) and to all my friends for being there for some or the most part of this 27 years. Now … it’s PARTY TIME!
